Don’t just communicate…
This weeks business coaching tip: Connect, don’t just communicate
You know how it goes.…
We've got so much to say about what we do, all the amazing ways we help people.
But sometimes, all that passion can actually get in the way of really connecting.
The biggest mistake I see business coaches make when they're talking about their services is trying to cram everything in.
They list features, benefits, their entire life story. And while it's all true, it can end up sounding like noise.
Think about it from your prospect's side.
They're busy. They've got a problem they want solved, or a goal they want to reach. They don't need a lecture; they need clarity.
Your core message isn't about what you do as much as it's about why it matters to them.
It's about the transformation you offer. The specific pain point you alleviate. The unique outcome you deliver.
To refine it, start by stripping away the fluff. Ask yourself: What's the single most important thing I want someone to understand about my service after just a few seconds of hearing about it?
What's the one problem I solve better than anyone else? And what's the tangible result my clients get when they work with me?
Once you've got that crystal clear, practice articulating it concisely.
Think "elevator pitch" but even simpler.
It should be easy to understand, memorable, and immediately relevant to your ideal client. This isn't about being simplistic; it's about being powerful. When your message hits home, it resonates. It makes people lean in, not tune out. And that's where true connection begins.
Summary: The Power of a Precise Message
Refining your core business message is less about saying everything and more about saying the most important thing. Focus on the transformation, the specific problem you solve, and the unique outcome you provide for your clients. By stripping away unnecessary details and focusing on clarity and impact, you create a message that truly resonates with prospects and strengthens your relationships with business owners. It's about connecting through relevance and clarity, not just communicating information.
